On Wednesday we left Sorrento and made our way to Capri. We took a bus as close to the docks as we could get and then walked the rest of the way to the ferry. It took about forty-five minutes to reach Capri. Boat is the only way to get there because it is an Island with no airports. Once we landed we had the fun task of finding our B&B. The island is not very big but there are a lot of back roads and hills which makes it difficult to find things. We took a bus up to a part of the Island called Ana Capri and then made the rest of our Journey by foot because neither taxi or bus could get to our B&B. I actually got off the bus at the wrong stop on the way up and turned around to the doors shutting behind me and the rest of my group still on the bus. I just stood there for a couple of seconds trying to process what just happened. I didn't know wither to laugh or cry. I didn't have the B&B's address or any way to contact the other girls so after a few minutes of pure shock I decided to just pick up my things and start walking the direction the bus went. The two other girls I was sharing the B&B with had gotten off at the next stop and walked back to where I was dropped off which I was very thankful for! We met about half way, laughed about it and then called our B&B for directions. We had to walk up a long narrow pathway with a lot of steps. This was really difficult to do with fifty pounds of luggage with me.
The owner of the B&B met us half way and helped us find it from there. our B&B was so cute and had a beautiful view of the island. The owner was very nice and made us feel very welcomed there. She told us while we were there it was our home so we were to be relax and enjoy it. When we were all settled in we met up with the other girls and took the chair lift to the top of the Island. At the top you can see the whole Island and the blue ocean bellow. We sat at the top for awhile and then hiked back down. Once we made it back down we shopped for awhile, got gelato, and then headed back to our B&B to get cleaned up before dinner.
On Thursday we went on a boat tour around Capri. We woke up around 7:30, ate breakfast and then met the other girls to go down to the docks. We had our own private boat, which was nice and the owner of the boat company turned out to be the same guy who waited on us the night before at dinner, which shows just how small the island really is. His name was Stefano who was also friends with the owner of our B&B. When she called to reserve us a time he said he met us the night before and remembered us, which was really funny. We must have made an impression, hopefully a good one.
The boat tour was incredible and really relaxing! Our captain was really nice and stopped at most of the grottos so we could take pictures, swim, and snorkel. It was so much fun and the water was gorgeous, definitely worth the cost! After the boat tour we took the cable cars back up to the center of Capri, walked around a little, and then took a siesta back at our B&B. In Italy everything closes down around one in the afternoon for siesta. This was something a little new to us and we had to plan our schedule around it. We ended up joining in on the siesta, which was a nice break to the heat. Everything opens back up around five but we would usually wait until around seven to eat. People eat a lot later in Italy and the restaurants stay open and busy until midnight.
Friday was a very depressing day because our stay in Capri had come to a close. I absolutely fell in love with the little Island! It is so beautiful there and the locals are some of the friendliest people I have ever met! They all go out of their way to help you and make your stay enjoyable. When we checked out of our B&B the owner thanked us for staying and told us she hoped we would come back again someday. I would love to go back to Capri again at some point so I better start saving now! An older gentleman drove us down to the docks, giving us helpful hints about the best way to get to the train station in Naples on the way. he was probably one of the sweetest old men I have ever met. He kept on telling us how beautiful we were and how driving us down to the docks made his day. It was so cute!
